Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of Vietnam's Provincial People's Committee, meets with Korea's KCMT Group

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce environmentally friendly building materials, specifically Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) rebar (sold under the KEco Bar brand) and GFRP Rockbolt developed by KCMT Group. “GFRP rebar and rockbolts are an innovative alternative to conventional rebar, offering the potential to be applied in a wide range of architectural and civil structures,” said Dae-Yeon Kim, Head of International Business at KCMT Group. By adopting advanced materials such as KCMT's GFRP rebar and Rockbolt, the Vietnamese construction industry can make significant improvements and advancements.

GFRP rebar offers several advantages: it weighs only a quarter of standard steel rebar and is more than twice as durable (lasting about 100 years) and highly resistant to corrosion. It also produces only 45% of the carbon emissions of traditional steel during production, and its superior workability allows for faster construction.

In addition to providing information on the quality of GFRP rebar, KCMT Group also expressed interest in donating steel to local construction projects to be introduced by the provincial People's Committee to showcase the advantages of the product.

At the meeting, Chairman Vo Tan Duc stressed that Dong Nai appreciates the positive results achieved by applying glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) materials in Vietnam, especially in coastal, island and infrastructure projects. Dong Nai is eager to learn from Korea's experience in developing and applying GFRP and is keen to explore opportunities to work with KCMT Group to establish standards and technical regulations that meet the conditions in Vietnam, especially those specific to Dong Nai.

Dong Nai is a dynamic province with rapid economic growth, currently hosting numerous large-scale industrial parks and national key projects. As a result, Dong Nai is keen on adopting new technologies and advanced, modern and environmentally friendly building materials that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which is in line with Vietnam's commitment to sustainable development as presented at international conferences.

The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that the meeting will be the starting point of cooperation between Dong Nai Province and KCMT Group.
